Green: 1 point (respawn 5 minutes)
Blue: 3 points (respawn 10 minutes)
Red: 9 points (respawn 15 minutes)
You can get a maximum number of points around each of the 4 basic towns. When you try to pick up a red pot and get the message that you explored the area, it simply means that you can't fit another 9 points in. You might be able to get blue or green pots.
